Simone Mccarthy - Secretary & uniform coordinator

Simone is a founding member of BDU Lightning and has been an integral part of the club since day one. What began as a vision to create another basketball pathway for their own children has grown into something much bigger, and Simone has been alongside her husband and Club President, Troy, every step of the way.

Now serving as Club Secretary, Simone brings a strong background in club compliance, administration and governance to the committee. Her knowledge and attention to detail help ensure BDU Lightning continues to grow while maintaining the standards, processes and responsibilities that come with running a successful basketball club.

Simone also continues in her role as Uniform Coordinator, making sure our Lightning players are organised and looking the part when they take the court.

Behind the scenes, Simone is a trusted sounding board, organiser and steady hand. She has played an important role in shaping the club’s direction, values and culture, with a strong focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment for our players and families.

And, of course, Simone also holds the unofficial but very important title of our President’s better half — keeping Troy grounded, organised and occasionally pointing him in the right direction! From administration and compliance to uniforms and the countless jobs that happen behind the scenes, Simone’s contribution to BDU Lightning continues to be an important part of what keeps the club moving forward.
