Mark Farrell - Vice President
If you’ve ever met Mark, aka Fazz, you’ll know two things: he’s got a deep love for basketball, and he probably has a whiteboard nearby… just in case.
Mark’s passion for the game started early, growing up in Ballarat where he played Representative Basketball for the Ballarat Miners in his junior years.
Basketball isn’t just a sport in the Farrell household — it is a way of life. In fact, Mark and his wife both grew up on the courts of Ballarat, and now their daughters, Sophie and Olivia, are continuing the family tradition (with Dad on the sidelines as coach, of course).
Mark brings a wealth of experience to BDU Lightning, both on and off the court. He’s a multitime A Grade Men’s, A1 Men’s, and Masters premiership winner. He’s also held leadership roles including Vice President and Director of Coaching at Phoenix Basketball. In 2025, he joined the coaching staff for Basketball Victoria’s U14 Jamboree — proof that even state-level talent can’t resist his clipboard charisma.
When he’s not organising drills or cheering on the juniors, Mark is focused on developing young players and building strong fundamentals — because in his book, a good jump shot is great, but a solid foundation is everything.
